Job Summary:
The Department of Social Sciences at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) invites applications for a one-year temporary position as an Assistant Professor/Instructor of Early World History at the Weatherford campus.
Description of Job Duties:
The successful candidate will teach courses in Early World History up to the Age of Discovery as well as General Education courses both online and in-person in Early World History, World Cultural Geography, and American Government. The field and area of study is open, but preference will be given to candidates with the ability to teach non-Western fields. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Teaching assignments mentioned above Maintaining weekly office hours appropriate to course load Participating in early grade alert systems and assessing student outcomes Participating in departmental assessment Advising students and supporting student activities Continuing professional development
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education and Experience A Ph.D. in non-western history is preferred. Advanced ABD's with an established dissertation defense date will also be considered. Prior teaching experience at the collegiate level is preferred. Technological competence and experience in the LMS Canvas is preferred. Expectations are to maintain a Canvas site for each course and gain a working knowledge of the Colleague system. Must be eligible to work in the United States.
