History & Social Studies Teacher (2026-2027 School Year) Massanutten Academy is seeking an energetic, dedicated, and student-focused educator to join our faculty for the 2026-2027 academic year . Located in the beautiful foothills of the Massanutten Mountains in Woodstock, Virginia , Massanutten Academy is a college preparatory boarding and day school committed to developing academic excellence, leadership, character, and personal responsibility in a structured learning environment. Position Summary The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a variety of middle and upper school history and social studies courses while fostering academic achievement, leadership, and student engagement. Teaching Responsibilities
- Middle School Civics
- U.S. Government (Standard and AP)
- Dual Enrollment History
- U.S. History (Standard and AP) Qualifications
- Master's degree required in History, Political Science, Education, or a related field.
- Virginia teaching license (or eligibility for licensure) preferred.
- Experience teaching Advanced Placement (AP) and/or Dual Enrollment courses is preferred.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Passion for working with high school and middle school students in a structured educational environment. Essential Duties
- Deliver engaging, rigorous, and student-centered instruction.
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date electronic gradebook.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty, and administration.
- Mentor cadets through weekly advisory meetings.
- Foster a structured, disciplined, and respectful classroom environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support the Academy's academic mission.
- Participate in faculty meetings, school activities, and occasional weekend responsibilities.
- Adhere to all Academy policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Successfully complete a criminal background check prior to employment.
