Job Summary The Department of History, Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Purdue University Northwest (Hammond and Westville, Indiana) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Lecturer in History, beginning Fall 2026. We seek highly motivated candidates who can teach introductory courses such as Introduction to the Modern World, Survey of Global History, The Pre-Modern World, American History to 1877, and United States Since 1877, as well as other specialty areas that support Department priorities. Qualifications and Responsibilities Qualifications Ph.D. in History or related discipline Minimum of 3+ years of experience teaching at the college level and demonstrate strength in teaching effectiveness Active in publication and scholarship Responsibilities Teaching assigned courses in history and developing upper-level courses consistent with Department priorities Mentoring students and contributing to department efforts in marketing and student recruitment Engaging in active scholarships and mentoring student projects Serving on committees at the department, college, and university level University Profile Purdue University Northwest (PNW) is a student-centered university that transforms lives through innovative education, impactful research and community engagement. College Profile The College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences serves over 1,400 undergraduate students and 170 graduate students across a wide range of programs. In addition to the History Department, other administrative units within the college include: Behavioral Sciences Communication and Creative Arts English and World Languages Psychology School of Education & Counseling The College also houses the Community Counseling Center that provides quality affordable mental health and the Institute for Social and Policy Research, which uses social science and policy analysis methods to find solutions to educational, social, and health‐related challenges facing the citizens of Northwest Indiana and the Chicago metropolitan region.
