The mission of the Art Department at Bridgewater State University is to engage students in the exploration of their individual creative and art historical interests. Our faculty strives to create an environment in which students can investigate a full range of creative expressions in the studio and classroom and where diverse interests in art production and art history can thrive. In addition, our faculty is committed to providing a strong global understanding of art through direct experiences with artists, art works and architecture, as well as through the teaching of studio arts, art appreciation and art history. Studio enrollments are kept low to promote a sense of community and positive classroom dynamics. This contributes to strong one-on-one student-teacher relationships that lead to in-depth understanding and development of techniques, skills and individual styles, along with a knowledge and appreciation of achievements within the history of art. Essential Duties:
The Art Department at Bridgewater State University seeks qualified and committed Part Time Faculty in the Foundations Studio Art program, who are enthusiastic teachers and dedicated to working with undergraduates. Specific course offerings for which Part Time Faculty are requested include Studio Art courses in Drawing I, Two-dimensional Design, Three-Dimensional Design, and Digital Imaging.
Applicants should possess:
Ability to effectively teach foundational level studio art courses according to the Department of Art and Art Historys shared foundations program objectives. Ability to effectively teach in a close, collaborative, collegial environment dedicated to the teaching-learning relationship. Strong commit to excellence in teaching and to working in a multicultural environment that fosters diversity. Ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning. Provide quality teaching including related preparation and grading. Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes and to the department office as requested. Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required. Courses will be offered in person on the main campus in Bridgewater.
Required Qualifications:
MFA in studio art
