The Museum Studies Program and Department of Art at St. Mary's College of Maryland are accepting applications for the position of Lecturer of Art History and Museum Studies, beginning August 2027. The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $63,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Teaching responsibilities will include Survey in Art History (2-semester sequence), Contemporary Art, and Introduction to Museum Studies, as well as topics courses in Art History and Museum Studies based on the instructor's specialization. Additional responsibilities will include coordinating and supervising undergraduate internships in Museum Studies. All professors at St. Mary's are expected to contribute to the college-wide LEAD Curriculum, as well as to their departmental curriculum. Candidates whose course arrays can contribute to the LEAD Cultural Literacy requirement may be preferred. An interest in attracting and retaining students from underrepresented groups is desirable. Non-sectarian since its founding, St. Mary's College of Maryland, a public Carnegie Baccalaureate, Arts and Sciences institution located in St. Mary's City, 70 miles southeast of Washington, D.C., has been designated a national public honors college. Qualifications:

Ph. D. in Art History or related field required. Commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Expertise in Contemporary and Modern Art History, Global & Non-Western Art History, American Art History, and/or Curatorial Practices or Exhibit Design preferred. Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
