Full Job Description Position Overview:
Concordia Academy in Roseville, MN, is seeking experienced candidates to teach one PSEO section of ART 120 Ceramics I to high school students during the Fall 2026 semester. Instructors are expected to demonstrate subject expertise while fostering an environment of active intellectual and creative engagement with students. The PSEO curriculum is provided by the Department of Science at Concordia University, Saint Paul.
Course Description:
ART 120 Ceramics I- This introductory studio course is designed to familiarize beginning students with the fundamental techniques and concepts of contemporary ceramic art. Students will see and also investigate sculptural and vessel forms in clay, along with the relationship of drawing to the creative process. Although significant clay art history and technology will be taught, learning will be assessed primarily through portfolio production and review.

Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays; Meeting time is TBD but will be during the traditional school day

Facilitate quality student learning through teaching assigned courses. Increase student course engagement by providing a positive and regular presence within the course (at least four days per week for online courses) by engaging students through course activities and ongoing availability to provide student support. Provide substantive and timely feedback on course assessments, following academic unit and university guidelines, within the Learning Management System, typically within five business days of the assessments' due dates. Respond to student inquiries typically within 24 hours during business days unless otherwise specified at the college level (48 hours on weekends, with closer monitoring if assignments are due during the weekend or on Monday). Work collaboratively in a supportive academic environment, partnering with academic advising, career development, and the academic team to ensure each student has the resources they need to succeed. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Follow the university and academic unit's policies and procedures.

Master of Fine Arts degree for the assigned discipline, or commensurate professional experience

Experience Required:
Experience in a related industry with a minimum of one or more years of teaching experience. Candidates must demonstrate a motivation to serve students from all backgrounds and educational experiences, demonstrate an ability and motivation to work with diverse populations in a professional and personable manner, demonstrate an ability to anticipate and respond to new trends in the discipline with new curriculum and teaching practices.
Experience Preferred:
Teaching high school level students.
