Adjunct faculty member will teach introductory courses in American history to support the history program curriculum and York College's general education program. Specific need for the fall semester is our introductory American history "second-half" survey course: American History, Civil War to Global Power.
Outcome:
Teach undergraduate introductory courses in American history consistent with history program and college general education learning outcomes. Develop and teach introductory course or courses in American history in collaboration with relevant program faculty and department chair Deliver 2.5 hours per week per course of face-to-face instruction Hold office hours on campus for at least 1 hour weekly at a time convenient for students Communicate clearly and responsively with students enrolled in part-time faculty member's course Participate in assessment and faculty development work as requested by full-time faculty, department chair, and/or Director of General Education Minimum of Masters Degree in history or a related field. 3-5 years teaching experience in American history at the college level. Candidate should possess demonstrable knowledge about and experience teaching content of assigned course(s). Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate excellent communication skills and have a strong commitment to working as part of a collaborative team as consistent with essential functions described above. Faculty member should be up-to-date on disciplinary knowledge and pedagogy to deliver an appropriate instructional experience for current students.
