Professor Expectations:
Cisco College faculty are expected to carry out their responsibilities efficiently, effectively, and competently. Faculty Team:
The Political Science Division at Cisco College includes faculty from the following teaching disciplines: Political Science and History. All members collaborate and communicate regularly to support student success and to assist with course planning and preparation. Faculty in the Political Science Division report to the Division Chair.
Professor Responsibilities:
  • Design and deliver high-quality courses for all student cohorts across online, hybrid, and in-person modalities to achieve course outcomes and ensure alignment with state, institutional, and division standards.
  • Maintain an active instructional presence by initiating meaningful interaction with students in all course modalities, facilitating discussions, delivering direct instruction and clarification, and providing timely, substantive feedback directly and through the LMS and other approved instructional technologies.
  • Respond to student inquiries in a timely and supportive manner, provide guidance that promotes persistence and course completion, and refer students needing additional support to the appropriate college resources.
  • Maintain a minimum of five posted office hours per week and provide additional availability by appointment as appropriate to student needs.
  • Submit syllabi, grades, and attendance accurately and on time; maintain all required course documentation.
  • Participate in student learning assessment and institutional effectiveness to support a culture of continuously seeking improvement, including alignment with institutional goals.
  • Engage in ongoing professional growth by staying current in discipline and pedagogy, and completing all elements of the Faculty Evaluation Plan, including setting goals to improve course design, delivery, and student learning.
  • Assist with advising students and support registration, orientation, and career pathways as needed.
  • Support the mission of the College through committee service and participation in faculty and division meetings and commencement activities.
  • Represent the College positively in the classroom, on campus, and in the community.
  • Collaborate professionally with the Division Chair, faculty, staff, and administrators on scheduling, curriculum planning, and continuous improvement.
  • Follow college policies, communicate through appropriate reporting lines, and complete additional duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
  • Master's degree in teaching discipline or Master's degree in a related discipline and a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated teaching ability
  • Enthusiasm for teaching and student success

Posting and Application Details:
This position is based at the Abilene campus of Cisco College but may require teaching at the Cisco campus, dual credit partner high school locations, and online. This is a full-time, 9-month contract position. Cisco College offers a generous benefit package, including comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance. Member-only medical coverage and $5,000 of basic term life is provided at no cost to the employee. Other coverages are selected by the employee and payment made through payroll deduction.
