Description :
The Department of History at the University of Houston invites applications for part-time, temporary, Lecturer positions to teach lower-division core courses, especially the US History survey sequence, or other undergraduate History courses on an as-needed basis. Courses may be offered in various formats, including online or in-person instruction. Appointments will be made on a semester-by-semester basis, based on student need. Interested and qualified candidates are invited to apply. With over 300 majors and 40 M.A. and Ph.D. students, the UH Department of History provides high-quality undergraduate and graduate education. Our department has geographic and thematic breadth, with strengths in Global, Transnational, and Borderlands; Popular Culture and Material Culture; Public History and Digital Humanities; Race, Gender, and Society; Radicalism, Civil Rights, and Social Movements; Science, Technology, Environment, and Medicine; and War, Revolution, Human Rights, and Politics. Qualifications A Master's degree in History is required. Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in History or a closely related discipline. Official transcripts are required for a faculty appointment and will be requested upon selection of the final candidates. All positions at the University of Houston-System are security sensitive and will require a criminal history check.
