Adjunct Faculty Reports to: Dean of Early Childhood Studies EDvance College is a nonprofit, accredited institution of higher education built for and by the early education workforce. We reimagine higher education so it works for working educators and strengthens outcomes for children, families, and communities. Our mission is to empower the early education workforce to learn, transform, and lead through reflective, practice-based higher education. Through accessible, earn-and-learn degree pathways, we support educators to earn their degrees, advance in the field, and lead change in their communities. Our model is grounded in real classrooms and designed around the realities of working adults. We combine practice-based coursework, high-touch support, and strong employer partnerships to remove traditional barriers to higher education and connect learning directly to practice. As EDvance continues to grow, we are moving from a start-up institution into a more scaled and integrated model. This means building stronger systems, deepening alignment across teams, and expanding our reach while staying grounded in the relationships and student-centered approach that define our work. We are looking for team members who are deeply committed to educators, open to change, and motivated to build and refine systems that support student success at scale.
ROLE SUMMARY
Adjunct faculty are critical positions in EDvance College degree programs, as they are typically content experts currently working as full-time professionals who provide an important and valuable connection to the field. The role of adjunct faculty is to provide students with relevant, quality instruction aligned with the mission, vision, values, and outcomes of the college. At EDvance College, adjunct faculty are supported to work closely and collaboratively with the Early Childhood Studies team.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruction:
Ensure a high-quality academic experience for students in the classroom. Attends in-person and remote retreats to collaborate with cohort faculty to ensure vertical and horizontal sequencing of instruction, assignments, and learning outcomes (approximately 1 meeting per semester) Complete faculty onboarding Canvas course (~1-2 weeks) and applies standards to course content and pedagogy Ensures course syllabus meets standardized templates Ensures course content, pedagogy, and support aligns with The EDvance Way•, college policies, and procedures Creates and implements engaging, remote activities in the classroom to ensure student engagement, participation, and learning Attends and participates in Faculty Learning Communities (FLCs) regularly (once per week for one hour) to address student and program needs Collaborates with Student Success staff to quickly address student issues and provide support Provides timely feedback and grading on student assignments Participates in the Faculty Peer Review Process Contributes to Institutional Effectiveness activities to monitor and track students achievement outcomes
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet all required qualifications to be eligible for employment. Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience in higher education or coaching and mentoring A minimum of five (5) years of experience working in an early childhood classroom if teaching an ECE content or CORP class A minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience if teaching a writing development course If hired to teach in the Spanish pathway, must be bilingual in Spanish and English Demonstrated commitment to Justice Equity Diversity Inclusion and Belonging (JEDI+B) Experience in scaffolded course design, engaging teaching practices, and student support at the college/university level Use technology tools flexibly and inventively to create dynamic synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences Teach and work evenings to accommodate student schedules when necessary Attend monthly 1.5 hour Faculty Learning Community meetings
Desired Qualifications:
Doctorate Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field Proficiency using Canvas, Zoom, GoReact, Turnitin, and Google Workspace Experience working with state-subsidized preschools, Head Start programs, or Title V centers Experience with permit requirements and California ECE work requirements Bilingual in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese strongly desired but not required

COMPENSATION
$5,000 to $7,000 per 3-unit course additional compensation for completion of required tasks outside of teaching (onboarding, curriculum alignment, and Faculty Learning Communities) Compensation depends on experience and education. Benefits dependent on course load. Positions hired at 75% time or higher are eligible for EDvance College's comprehensive benefits package (i.e., medical/dental/vision, 401k and additional peripheral benefits including but not limited to flexible spending accounts, life insurance, etc.). Eligibility for benefits begins the first day of the month following the date of hire or eligibility.
