This role is vital in fostering a vibrant learning environment where students and staff can access innovative resources, develop information literacy skills, and engage with educational technology. The ideal candidate will be passionate about literacy education, possess excellent communication skills, and thrive in a collaborative setting. As a Media Specialist, you will serve as a key resource for classroom teachers, support student learning, and ensure the smooth operation of library services aligned with educational standards and school policies. Duties Manage the school's library collection through cataloging, digital resource management, and records maintenance to ensure easy access and organization of materials. Collaborate with teachers to integrate learning technology and literacy education into classroom instruction, enhancing student engagement and achievement. Provide information literacy instruction for reference services, teaching students how to research effectively and evaluate sources critically. Oversee classroom management during library visits, promoting positive behavior and ensuring a safe environment for all students. Keep track of inventory, circulation, and resource usage efficiently. Conduct ongoing assessment of student performance data related to research skills and literacy development to inform instructional strategies. Maintain compliance with educational regulations and school policies regarding library operations, student privacy, and safety protocols. Skills Exceptional writing skills for creating engaging instructional materials, reports, and communication with staff and students. Strong organizational skills to manage cataloging systems, resource records, and scheduling of library activities. Experience working with children in an educational setting, demonstrating effective classroom management techniques. Proficiency in information literacy instruction tailored for reference services to empower students' research capabilities. Knowledge of digital resource management tools and integrated library systems (ILS) for efficient library operations. Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers on curriculum planning and technology integration initiatives. Familiarity with educational technology tools that enhance learning experiences across subjects. Understanding of educational compliance standards, school policies, and regulations related to media services. Excellent communication skills for engaging students, training staff, and presenting information clearly. Skills in research methodologies, learning technology applications, and literacy education strategies. Experience analyzing student performance data to support targeted instructional interventions in media literacy.
