QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have appropriate valid Alabama Teaching Certificate in Library/Media. The duties include but are not limited to: Collaborates with teachers to plan and implement instruction.
Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve a positive learning atmosphere.
Ensures the Library Media Center is organized to accommodate a variety of uses.
Collaborates with teachers and administrators to develop and implement reading initiatives and special activities.
Implements the use of technology in program management and instruction.
Maintains a balanced collection and an up-to-date and accurate automated catalog.
Communicates regularly with all stakeholders using a variety of formats.
Provides professional development and technology support for teachers and administrators.
Establishes budget priorities based on a needs assessment and input from the Library Media Advisory Committee.
Maintains library usage records and submits required reports.
Develops a Policies and Procedures manual based on State and District handbooks and approved by the District Library Media Supervisor.
Evaluates the library media program and student progress, making adjustments to maintain positive results.
Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state and federal rules and regulations.
Demonstrates professional ethics and leadership.

Salary Range:
From/To As per MCPSS Salary Matrix, depending on degree and experience.
Additional Job Information •Applicants selected for certified positions must have undergone an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department) and been declared suitable and fit to teach under state law. Applicants selected must also pass a drug-screening test via forms provided by Human Resources during the selection process.•
