Job Description
Salary Information Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. \r\n•A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and MCCP Board Rules & Regulations•\r\n Nature of Work The fundamental reason this\r\nclassification exists is to support the efforts of local libraries primarily in\r\nthe areas of children's materials and assistant management of branches.� Primary work responsibilities may include:\r\nperforming circulation duties; creating and implementing programs and events; serving\r\npatrons and the public; performing collection maintenance, assisting in the\r\nmanagement of a facility; and performing a variety of library-related\r\nduties.� The Librarian I classification\r\nindirectly supervises employees and may serve as supervisors in the absence of\r\na supervisory librarian; however, they do not have final supervisory\r\nauthority.� The Librarian I classification\r\ndiffers from the Library Assistant classification series in that Librarian I\r\nincumbents are more involved in the management of an assigned facility.� The Librarian I classification differs from\r\nthe Librarian II classification in that the Librarian II incumbents serve as\r\ntechnical experts in a specific library discipline.� The Librarian I classification is typically\r\nsupervised by a Librarian II, III, or IV.\r\n Minimum Qualifications \r\nBachelor's degree in Elementary Education, English, Computer\r\nScience, Library Science, or closely related degree and one year of experience\r\nperforming technical library work such as circulation and collection\r\nmaintenance.� A Master's degree from an\r\naccredited program in librarianship or school library media may be substituted\r\nfor the required experience.\r\n�\r\n
