We are currently seeking a Lower School Librarian starting in Fall 2026 at an independent school in Miami, FL.
Responsibilities of Lower School Librarian:
Teach weekly library courses for PK3-Grade 5 students that promotes inquiry, creativity, and a love for reading. Implement instructional practices that fosters students' information literacy and critical thinking skills. Develop curriculum that hones skillset in digital literacy, digital safety, media evaluation, online kindness, and early digital citizenship. Partner with teachers to integrate library resources into everyday coursework. Develop professional development opportunities for faculty to expand skillset in research methods, information literacy, and utilizing library resources effectively. Curate and manage a diverse, inclusive print and digital library collection.
Requirements of Lower School Librarian:
Master of Library Science (MLS) or equivalent advanced degree. 3-5 years of previous experience working with elementary and/or early childhood students. Knowledge of children's literature, early literacy development, and developmentally appropriate instructional practices. Proven ability to develop and deliver information literacy curriculum. U.S. Work Authorization required.
