Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team at Filer Elementary School as a librarian. The ideal candidate will foster a love for reading and learning among students while managing the library's resources and programs. This full-time position requires strong organizational skills, a commitment to student success, and the ability to collaborate with educators and staff to enhance the educational experience. Responsibilities Manage the daily operations of the school library, including circulation, cataloging, and inventory management. Develop and implement engaging library programs and activities that promote literacy and a love for reading. Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into the curriculum and support classroom instruction. Provide instruction and guidance to students in research methods, information literacy, and digital citizenship. Curate and maintain a diverse collection of books, digital resources, and educational materials that reflect the interests and needs of students. Assist students in selecting appropriate reading materials and conducting research for projects. Organize and oversee library events, including book fairs, author visits, and reading challenges. Maintain a welcoming and safe library environment conducive to learning and exploration. Stay current with library trends, educational technology, and best practices in library services. Participate in professional development opportunities and collaborate with other librarians and educators. Requirements Strong knowledge of children's literature, educational resources, and technology in a library setting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students, staff, and parents. Proven organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Experience with library management systems and digital resources is preferred. A commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse library environment. Passion for promoting literacy and a lifelong love of reading among students.
