Job Description The Liaison Librarian reports to the Head Librarian of the Theology and Ministry Library, and is responsible for the provision of research and instruction services at the Theology and Ministry Library and the Catholic Religious Archives (CRA). In addition, they select materials and maintain the overall quality and content of the Theology and Ministry Library collection.
Responsibilities:
  • Provides reference and research assistance in person, virtually, or over the phone.
  • Assists with staffing the CRA reading room, registering and providing an orientation to researchers, monitoring appropriate use and handling of archival materials, and providing other assistance as needed.
  • Designs and provides instruction in the effective use of library and archival resources for theological research.
  • Selects materials and maintains the Theology and Ministry Library collections.
  • Serves as a liaison with faculty to develop collections and to heighten awareness of research tools, resources, and digital technologies.
  • Supports and builds relationships with other Catholic institutes and academic programs on campus.
  • Creates and maintains guides to library and other online resources.
  • Works with the Head Librarian to evaluate and set goals and objectives for library services.
  • In consultation with the Head Librarian, establishes guidelines for maintaining the collection.
  • Serves on pertinent Libraries-wide committees and task forces.
  • Serves as needed at the Circulation Desk.
Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and full-time equivalent hiring ranges:
Senior Liaison Librarian:
$78,100 - $97,650; 5 years professional Librarian experience
Liaison Librarian:
$70,850 - $88,550; 3 years professional Librarian experience Requirements This position requires an ALA-accredited MLS; a graduate degree in theology or a related field of study and previous project management experience are preferred. The Liaison Librarian role requires at least two years of directly related experience. The Senior Liaison Librarian role requires a minimum of five years of directly related experience. Candidates must have strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; proven teaching skills; the ability to work independently as well as part of a team; flexibility and ability to adapt to a changing environment; demonstrated problem-solving skills; proficiency in the use of online resources, research databases, and primary source/archival materials; and general familiarity and facility with current library-related technologies.
