Benefits Available Position Summary We are seeking an enthusiastic and student-focused Elementary School Librarian / Library Media Specialist to foster a love of reading, literacy, research, and lifelong learning among elementary students. The ideal candidate will manage the school library, provide engaging library instruction, support classroom learning, and create a welcoming environment where students can develop information literacy and critical thinking skills. The Librarian will collaborate with teachers, staff, and administrators to promote literacy initiatives, support curriculum goals, and ensure students have access to high-quality educational resources. Essential Responsibilities Manage the daily operations of the school library and media center. Develop and deliver engaging library lessons for elementary students. Promote reading, literacy, and information literacy skills through classroom instruction and library programming. Assist students in selecting age-appropriate books and educational resources. Maintain and organize library collections, including cataloging, circulation, and inventory management. Collaborate with teachers to support classroom curriculum and instructional goals. Plan and coordinate literacy events, book fairs, reading challenges, and special library programs. Teach students responsible use of library resources, technology, and digital citizenship. Monitor and assess student engagement and participation in library activities. Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment. Utilize educational technology and digital resources to support student learning. Communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and administration. Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Library Science, Education, Library Media, or a related field required. Missouri School Librarian/Library Media Specialist certification preferred or eligibility to obtain certification. Previous experience working with elementary-aged students preferred. Knowledge of children's literature, literacy development, and library management practices. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and school staff. Proficiency with educational technology and library management systems preferred. Preferred Skills Experience planning literacy promotion programs and special events. Knowledge of digital research tools, databases, and educational resources. Ability to foster student engagement and enthusiasm for reading. Strong classroom management skills. Commitment to creating an inclusive and student-centered environment. Experience supporting diverse learners and differentiated instruction. Compensation & Benefits
