Job Description

Company Overview Connetquot Public Library is seeking an Adult Services Librarian to join our Adult Services Department. This position offers the opportunity to be part of an evolving library environment where you'll help our community explore all that the library has to offer Responsibilities and Duties Shifts required: Two (2) evening shifts 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. either Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday. Two (2) Saturdays per month, and one (1) Sunday per month. Assist patrons in finding and requesting books, films, museum passes, and more. Help with internet use, email, social media, Microsoft Office, and Google apps. Troubleshoot smartphones, tablets, and e-readers. Guide members through class registrations and library services. If you're an avid reader who loves helping others and enjoys learning new things, we'd love to have you! The ideal candidate is motivated, curious, and always ready to find answers to unexpected questions. Come be part of a team that makes a difference every day! Qualifications and Skills Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program, or current enrollment in an ALA accredited MLS program required New York State Public Librarian Certificate required or in progress Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a welcoming, service focused approach Comfortable using everyday technology including email, social media, and mobile devices Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive work environment Genuine interest in working with children and families in a public library setting Benefits New York State Retirement System Paid vacation time This is a non competitive Suffolk County Civil Service position (LIBRARIAN I or
