Description Ashland Public Library is seeking a dynamic, community-focused leader to serve as its next Library Director. This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic professional who values public service, lifelong learning, and community engagement. The Library Director oversees all aspects of library operations, including staff leadership, programming, community outreach, budgeting, strategic planning, and patron services. The successful candidate will work closely with the Board of Trustees, staff, and community partners to ensure the library remains a welcoming, innovative, and responsive resource for residents of all ages. Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage daily library operations.
Supervise, train, and support library staff.
Develop and implement programs and services that meet community needs.
Manage the library budget and financial resources.
Promote library services through community outreach and partnerships.
Advise the Board of Trustees on policy, planning, and operational matters.
Oversee collection development, technology, facilities, and patron services.
Represent the library within the community and professional organizations.
Qualifications
Required
Completion of at least two years of college coursework (minimum 60 credit hours).
Willingness to complete nine (9) credits in Library Science as required.
Leadership, supervisory, management, public service, or administrative experience.
Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with staff, trustees, patrons, and community organizations.
Preferred
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Public library experience.
Experience with budgeting, community engagement, programming, or volunteer management.
Coursework or experience in Library Science, Education, Public Administration, or a related field.
