education curriculum Implementation of strategic initiatives Senior level Full Job Description Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe School Librarian/Technology Specialist creates and maintains an environment that supports active learning, inquiry, literacy development, technology integration, and collaboration with staff and students. This role serves as an instructional partner, information specialist, technology resource, and teacher to promote student achievement and ethical use of information and technology within a bilingual and bimodal educational environment.

Daily ExpectationsLibrary and Media ServicesCreate and maintain a library environment that is inviting, safe, flexible, and conducive to student learningWork collaboratively with members of the school community to define policies of the library program and guide all related activitiesEnsure that library program goals and objectives align with school and district long-range strategic plansUse effective management principles, including resources and facilities, to implement program goalsPrepare, justify, and administer the library program budget in support of program goalsEstablish and maintain procedures for selection, acquisition, circulation, and resource sharing to ensure appropriate resources are availableEnsure equitable physical access to library facilities, including barrier-free and universally designed environmentsMaintain active memberships in professional library and education associationsCollaborate with teachers and students to design and teach engaging inquiry-based learning experiences and assessmentsParticipate in the implementation of collaboratively planned instruction by providing group and individual instructionPlan and support meaningful experiences that promote a love of reading and lifelong learningProvide and participate in professional development opportunities for school and district staffProvide leadership in the selection, acquisition, evaluation, and organization of information resources and technologies in all formatsEnsure equitable access to information resources and promote responsible and ethical use of informationDevelop and maintain a collection of resources aligned with curriculum, learner needs, and instructional strategiesModel effective strategies for developing multiple literaciesOrganize library collections for maximum accessibility and effective useEmpower students to become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of informationGuide students in reading for understanding, exposure to diverse viewpoints and genres, and personal enjoymentSupport students in using information for defined and self-defined purposesAssist students in building on prior knowledge and constructing new knowledgeSupport students in navigating information and media in all formatsCollect and analyze data to improve instruction and demonstrate connections between the library program and student achievementResearch, write, and submit persuasive grant proposals to secure library fundsTechnology IntegrationSupport staff and students with instructional technology tools and digital resources.

STEAM ProgrammingDevelop and implement STEAM-related learning opportunities and enrichment activities.

Facilitate hands-on learning experiences involving science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.

Support project-based learning and interdisciplinary instruction.

Coordinate STEAM events, clubs, maker-space activities, or schoolwide initiatives.

Encourage creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, and innovation among students.
