Job Description

Trident Technical College's Library is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to fill a part-time Librarian position. This position serves as a key resource for students, faculty, and staff by providing research support and academic assistance. This role operates in a student-facing, service-oriented environment and is responsible for delivering reference services, supporting information literacy, and contributing to library operations. The position exercises independent judgment while ensuring excellent customer service and support for student success.
Key responsibilities include:
Provide reference and research assistance in person, by phone, and through virtual platforms (e.g., chat). Assist students with research strategies, citations, use of library databases, and general technology and course management tools. Develop and maintain research guides (LibGuides) and other instructional materials to support student learning. Serve as an embedded librarian in online courses and support information literacy initiatives. Perform copy cataloging of materials and assist with collection maintenance and organization. Collaborate with library staff on projects and provide support for departmental initiatives and services. Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association (ALA)-accredited university. Students currently enrolled in a master's program in Library and Information Science may also be considered. Experience providing reference and instructional services in an academic library environment. Demonstrated knowledge of professional library practices, including reference and information literacy. Strong technology skills, including experience with library systems (e.g., Alma), Springshare products, and virtual reference tools. Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with strong attention to detail and adaptability to changing technology.
