PRIMARY PURPOSE
Directs the operation of the school library by building a culture of reading and information literacy through diverse and inclusive print and digital resources and robust learning experiences; leading through teaching, creating, collaborating, and sharing; modeling responsibility when locating, evaluating, and synthesizing information; demonstrating creative and purposeful uses of technology; and providing access to information and resources on a continuous basis.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Master's degree from accredited college or university (for individuals certi?ed after January 23, 2001) preferred Valid Texas librarian or learning resources specialist certi?cate or endorsement preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Master teacher and understanding of instructional pedagogy Knowledge of library and information science Ability to instruct and manage student behavior Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Minimum of two years of successful classroom teaching
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Advocates for students and sta? to have equitable access to resources and learning experiences. Models master librarianship and teaching for future practitioners. Grows capacity in colleagues, both at the campus and department levels, through Professional Learning and embedded support. Models ethical and legal use of learning resources. Creates innovative solutions to complex problems. Carries out the mission and vision of the campus, library services department, and district. Provides services through servant leadership and makes informed decisions based on what is best for the learning community. Maintains positive customer service skills and relationships with all library users.
FACILITATOR
Supports and maintains collaborative learning environments. Provides a ?exible schedule and library space that is inclusive for learner-led activities. Promotes the library as a welcoming community space which impacts the culture of the school. Meets the needs of all learners through current and relevant collection development procedures. Maintains synchronous and asynchronous services for 24/7 access to information and resources. Seeks ways to involve stakeholders and the greater community in library programming and instruction. Inspires and supports the reading lives of the school community Oversees program administration of budget, ordering of instructional materials and supplies, and supervision of paraprofessional, volunteers, and student assistants. Creates and manages an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
INSTRUCTIONAL PARTNER
Models and assists with the integration of digital learning resources. Leads the school community in all areas of digital citizenship and teaches and promotes student data and privacy through instruction and role as an educational leader. Guides students and sta? in the safe, ethical, legal, and e?ective use of resources. Collaborates and co-teaches with all grade levels and content areas in a variety of instructional settings. Empowers all members of the learning community to be creators, risk-takers, and comfortable with failure as part of the learning process. Attends and/or contributes to PLC meetings. Curates and provides vetted and credible print and digital materials to support district curriculum and classroom instruction. Embeds information literacy instruction in all contents and disciplines. Creates innovative and real-world instructional experiences for all learners.
ADMINISTRATION
Compiles budgets and cost estimates based on documented program needs. Compiles, maintains, and ?les all reports, records, and other documents required. Complies with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, and board policy. 30. Complies with all district and campus routines and regulations.
SUPERVISORY- RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise clerical aide(s), student aides, and volunteers.

Standard o?ce equipment including computer and peripherals; standard library equipment including imaging equipment; standard instruction equipment
Posture:
Regular sitting, standing, kneeling, squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; regular overhead, and Reaching
Lifting:
Frequent light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds); occasional moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds)
Environment:
Work inside; work alone; exposure to biological and chemical hazards such as mold and dust
