Job Description

Primary Function The Research Services Librarian is a full-time, on-site Landmark College staff member who, in coordination with another Research Services Librarian, provides information literacy instruction to students through course-specific library workshops and individual appointments, and contributes to collection development to support students' academic success and faculty and staff scholarship and professional development. Responsibilities encompass providing services and resources in both physical and online library environments. This librarian works with a small, dedicated team of library staff to support the mission of Landmark College to "transform the way neurodivergent students experience learning, educators approach teaching, and society views education and neurodiversity." Core Responsibilities Provide learning opportunities for information literacy in support of coursework to on-campus and online students in areas such as research methods, information retrieval, research project planning, and choosing, evaluating, and citing sources. Develop and maintain assessment and instructional materials in a variety of formats to supplement the instruction program. Assist students, faculty, and staff with research inquiries. Develop and maintain relationships with academic departments, serving as liaison. Conduct literature searches in support of faculty and staff scholarship and informed decision making. Evaluate materials to be added to or removed from the library's collection, in specific subject areas related to academic departments, cross-curricular areas of study, and professional and scholarly programs, using accepted professional standards. Promote the Library's resources to students, faculty, and staff through the creation of resource lists, displays, subject-specific web guides, etc. Assist students, faculty, and staff with technology-related questions such as software applications, general use of computers, network and printing problems, etc. Share the responsibility of staffing the circulation/reference desk and online chat reference during Library hours. Serve on campus committees and task forces to serve the College and to promote, as applicable, Library resources, information literacy, and research instruction services. Qualifications An ALA-accredited master's degree in library/information science is required. Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
Also required:
An appreciation for neurodiversity, especially for specific learning disabilities, attention disorders, and autism, as well as a willingness to gain a growing knowledge of the instructional challenges of and effective approaches for working with neurodivergent students. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Proficiency/comfort working with online communication tools. Working Conditions This is an on-campus, in-person position. The work is somewhat sedentary, although there can be walking and standing for those able to do so, and some bending and carrying of light items such as papers and books. There are some repetitive motions, such as performed in typing and word processing. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Compensation At Landmark College, our compensation philosophy reflects our institutional values, our commitment to fairness and equity, and our role as a transformative educational community.
