Job Description

The Part-Time Library Technical Assistant will report to the Campus Librarian and will be responsible for performing reference, circulation, and clerical duties. This position will be utilized and scheduled as needed during regular library staff members' requested and approved leave times to maintain appropriate library hours and functionality.
Work Hours:
Varies, up to 19 hours. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications and must submit a complete application packet through the on-line application system to be considered. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted before the deadline, but official transcripts must be received if employed.) Applicants must provide information from previous employers documenting full-time related work experience if an offer is made. Assist students, faculty, and other library users in obtaining needed information and/or resources. Work at the Circulation Desk when scheduled and/or needed. Orient library users to the arrangement of the library. Circulate library materials and collect fines and fees from library users. Assist with the use of all library equipment (computers, copier, etc.). Assist with library collection maintenance. Perform data entry of information within the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog). Maintain the Atriuum Library System. Assist in reshelving library materials (books, periodicals, etc.). Prepare reports as assigned. Prepare and send overdue notices. Prepare claims for missing issues of periodicals. Process purchase orders for books and materials. Maintain records of library usage. Assist in maintaining library correspondence and files. Answer telephone and respond to questions from callers. Process return shipments. Prepare and send faxes. Maintain confidentiality of all library users' personal information. Assist with training and supervision of work-study students. Assist with library orientations and library instruction. Assume all other duties assigned by Dean of Student Success and/or the Dean of Instruction.

EXPERIENCE A
minimum of an associate's degree from an accredited institution is required. A minimum of three years of business and office management or related working experience is required. Documented proficiency in computer skills.

Excellent customer service skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Skill in operating a mouse to control a computer. Skill in operating a computer including tablets. Ability to follow instructions and adhere to prescribed routines. Ability to multi-task and prioritize issues. Ability to work and communicate with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds. Ability to utilize email systems to communicate information. Ability to work with minimal supervision/work independently. Ability to operate in a professional manner at all time. Conscientious•wanting to care about how work is done and wanting to do a good job. Initiative•responding to downtime by taking responsibility to do other work. A focus on details. A focus on being friendly and patient in responding to customer needs. Willingness to maintain flexibility in order to meet student needs. A positive attitude regardless of circumstances at hand.
