Job Summary Supports daily library operations by providing customer service to students and faculty, maintaining organization and accessibility of library materials and spaces, performing administrative support tasks, and assisting with special projects and initiatives including Reimagine Space, Social Media, and Archives. Additional Information This position will begin as a regular part-time summer position and transition to a Federal Work Study (FWS) position for the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semester. Applicants should reasonably expect to qualify for Federal Work Study funding in order to be considered. To qualify for a Federal Work-Study (FWS) position, students must have a current FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) on file and demonstrate eligible financial need based on college and federal requirements. The 2026-2027 Federal Work-Study Student Interest Form will not be available until late June or early July 2026. FWS is a need-based, federally funded employment program. Eligibility is determined by the Financial Aid Office after completion of the FAFSA and all required financial aid processes. Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) degree-applicable credit hours in a federal student aid eligible program at
GCC. FWS
funding does not directly pay tuition costs. Award amounts are based on FAFSA results and available college funding and determine the number of hours a student may work while supporting their academic goals. Continued employment in a Federal Work Study position is contingent upon confirmed and continued FWS eligibility, department need, and satisfactory job performance. Essential Functions 25% Provide customer service to students and faculty at the library circulation counters; including checking materials in and out. 25% Shelve library materials. 25% General cleaning and tidying of the library collection and furniture. 15% Perform office duties including; data input, filing, customer service, answering phones, taking and disseminating messages. 10% Assist in special areas as needed, such as: Reimagine Space, Social Media, and Archives Minimum Qualifications This position will begin as a regular part-time summer position and transition to a Federal Work Study (FWS) position for the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semester. Additional qualifications include:
Basic computer skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Reliability, punctuality, and professionalism. Be confirmed as FWS eligible by the GCC Financial Aid Office no later than August 15, 2026, required in order to be considered to continue employment in this position. Desired Qualifications Previous library and customer service experience desired.
