Work Schedule Up to 15 hours per week within the following business hours:
Monday-Thursday:
8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
Friday-Saturday:
8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Student worker schedules are flexible . Federal Work-Study schedules will be determined based on the student's class schedule and the staffing needs of the library. Additional Information In order to qualify for a Federal Work-Study (FWS) job, a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be on file for the current award year and have eligible financial needs based on the college requirements. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid for more information prior to applying to a Federal Work-Study job. FWS is a need-based, federally funded program. FWS requires the completion of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and confirmation of federal work-study eligibility as determined by the financial aid office. FWS does not directly pay for tuition, and funds are only available to eligible students attending a minimum of six (6) degree applicable hours in a federal student aid eligible program. The FWS award amount is based on your FAFSA results and college funding availability, which will determine the number of hours available to work while supporting the students academic goals. For more detailed information, please go to the MCCCD Federal Work-Study Website Essential Functions Accurately sorts, shelves, and files library materials, including books, DVDs, CDs and periodicals, according to 2 library classification systems, Dewey and Library of Congress, (alphabetical, categorical and numeric systems). Reads shelves for accuracy and shelves misplaced items. Packs and unpacks boxes of books and other library materials, sorting them on appropriate shelves and carts. Distributes library shipments from branch libraries. Checks in library materials using a computerized library operating system. Empties book drops. Assists in keeping all areas of the library, particularly the Sort Room area, in a clean, neat and orderly condition. Performs related duties as assigned. Desired Qualifications Ability to sort alphabetically and numerically. Ability to use a computer keyboard and mouse. Ability to learn the Dewey Decimal System and the Library of Congress Classification System. Training will be provided. Ability to work independently with the oversight of the library staff supervisor and work collaboratively with other pages and SMCC and CIty of Phoenix public library staff. Ability to communicate with customers in the public areas and to effectively direct customer questions to appropriate customer service desk staff. Ability to lift books and other materials weighing from 1 to 10 pounds, overhead, onto book carts, and on lower bookshelves.
