Part-Time Weekend Library Assistant Silver Hill Hospital - 3.8 New Canaan, CT Job Details Part-time 5 hours ago Benefits Opportunities for advancement Qualifications CPI Certification High school diploma or GED Productivity software Full Job Description The Library Assistant aids the Director of Library Services in the management and operation of the library. The primary duties include helping patients and/or staff locate books, checking books in and out at the front desk and shelving books according to their categorization. This position reports to the Director of Library Services.
Schedule:
Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00am to 4:00pm
Duties/Responsibilities:
Opens and closes the library according to schedule and policies. Checks library materials in/out and shelves returned items. Straightens the library shelves. Answers library phone and performs administrative tasks, including making copies, filing, etc. Assists library patrons in locating materials, using the computers and printing. Demonstrates the ability to use LibraryWorld to register patron borrowers. Monitors all library equipment including computers. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
Must have the ability to function optimally in a stressful environment, and the ability to remain calm in emotionally charged situations. Moderate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of Programs.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED Past experience in customer service, preferred. CPR BLS certification and CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification, after hire and before assignment to patient care. Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, and transport library materials (up to 25 lbs). Must be able to reach materials on high and low shelves. Ability to walk, bend, and possibly climb stairs as needed.
