PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Learning Center is an integral part of HBA's learning environment that strives to support the school's mission. The Librarian's primary role is to ensure that the library supports learning by providing faculty, staff and students with access to relevant resources through information skills instruction and management of the collection, facilities, and circulation of resources.ESSENTIAL DUTIES/FUNCTIONS
Collection Department and Management Maintain a current and relevant collection that supports curriculum needs as well as reflects the needs and interests of the faculty and student body. Develop and update collection development policies and procedures Review, order, and process books in both print and digital collections Gather requests from teachers and students for resource selection (e.g., books, periodicals, online databases, audio/visual, etc.) Maintain and update online catalog system Maintain online resource databases Shelve resources, check shelving regularly (with assistant) Repair and replace worn books and resources (with assistant) Weed collection on an ongoing and regular basis Inventory collection (once every two years minimum) Manage a working budget for library resources and supplies Facility Management Maintain attractive, inviting, and organized facilities that support academic and recreational learning in the Learning Center on the HS campus, and the Reading Room and English classrooms on the MS campus. Organize spaces to accommodate various uses (e.g., large and small group instruction, student independent and group work, recreational reading, etc.) Provide adequate signage Provide shelving and furniture for resources and patron use Coordinate with the school's facilities manager for cleaning, furniture repair, etc. Circulation Maintain a circulation system that effectively manages borrowing, fines, requests, etc. Develop and update circulation policies and procedures Circulate resources Maintain circulation software Maintain digital book collection (Overdrive) Update student, faculty and staff database Provide due date and overdue reminders Collect and maintain accounting of fines and fees Information Literacy Instruction Provide ongoing instruction to faculty and students on efficient and effective library and information (research) skills Collaborate with teachers in determining library and information skills instruction needs Schedule, plan, and provide faculty in-service and class instruction Inform staff and students of copyright laws Create instructional handouts and videos for teacher and student use Maintain library website Technology Information Keep current with the latest technology through workshops, in-service events, conferences, etc. Provide faculty in-service and class instruction on digital applications Create instructional handouts and videos of digital applications for teacher and student use Maintain, troubleshoot, do minor repairs on school-issued devices for students and teachers Manage loaner devices for students and assist with lost/damaged devices Assist teachers with technical issues (both hardware and software needs) Coordinate technology requests with Director of Technology Work with tech department on the collection and distribution of school devices for students Catalog media equipment in collaboration with visual arts department chair (does not include items managed by technology department) Promotion Display new and high interest resources in the Learning Center Inform faculty of resources relevant to their curriculum on a regular basis Share new and/or interesting resources with students on a regular basis Library Staff Management Train and coordinate clerks, faculty assistants, parent and student volunteers Supervise library assistant Professional Development Participate in professional activities (e.g., conferences, committees, workshops, meetings, etc.) Obtain membership in appropriate local and national professional associations (e.g., Hawaii Association of School Librarians, Hawaii Library Association, etc.) Read professional literature Enroll in classesOTHER DUTIES/FUNCTIONS

Organizational skills, planning, technologically savvy, knowledge of current trends in Library Management.Education/Training:
Bachelors of Education from an accredited college or university. Teaching experience and/or Master's degree in Library Science from an accredited college or university preferred.Experience:
