Job Description

Library Media Specialist - Tech Coordinator
JOB TITLE
Library Media Specialist - Tech Coordinator
PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT
Holy Family School
REPORTS TO
Head of Schools
JOB OVERVIEW
Holy Family School is looking for a school librarian who's also ready to own technology management for the building. You'll run a curriculum-aligned media center — collection development, circulation, and information literacy instruction — while also managing and maintaining every device in the building: staff computers, classroom tablets, and shared tech tools. That means you're not just fixing problems as they come up — you're tracking inventory, coordinating repairs and replacements, setting up new devices, and making sure the building's technology stays in working order year-round. No prior IT job required, but you should be comfortable owning that responsibility, not just troubleshooting on the fly. The ideal candidate brings both a library background and practical hands-on technology experience, and is comfortable moving fluidly between the media center, the classroom, and the tech closet.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Library & Media Center Management Develop and maintain a current, curriculum-aligned collection of print and digital media using accepted selection criteria, including multicultural and gender-fair standards. Catalog, classify, and organize all media materials and equipment according to professional library standards; maintain accurate inventory and submit timely reports. Oversee circulation of materials; supervise, train, and coordinate media center paraeducators, student aides, and volunteers. Solicit ongoing input from teachers and students to guide collection development and media purchases; assist in managing the media center budget. Promote a love of reading and independent learning through programming, displays, and resource curation. Technology Support & Device Management Serve as the building-level point of contact for technology support, troubleshooting hardware, software, devices, and classroom technology tools for staff and students. Own and maintain a full inventory of school devices — staff computers, classroom tablets, and shared equipment — and manage their full lifecycle: setup, updates, repair, and replacement. Serve as the primary point of contact for device issuance and returns, including staff laptops and classroom tablet carts. Coordinate inspection, maintenance, repair, and replacement of school technology assets. Assist the principal and district technology coordinator in identifying professional development needs related to technology; facilitate staff training and in-service as needed. Collaborate with teachers to meaningfully integrate technology into classroom instruction aligned with district curriculum. Inform staff and students about available technology resources and support confident, effective use across subject areas. Information Literacy & Instruction Teach information and technology literacy skills to students, modeling effective research strategies, ethical information use, and responsible digital citizenship. Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and deliver instructional strategies that support information literacy across content areas. Stay current on trends in education, library science, and instructional technology; apply new knowledge to continuously improve programs and services. Attend relevant staff and department meetings; participate in professional growth opportunities. Perform other duties as assigned.
