Job Description

The White Oak Library District, serving the communities of Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville, Illinois will soon be expanding its hours of operation. Therefore, we are seeking applicants interested in 2 new part time Children's Services Specialist positions, one at our Lockport Branch and one at our Romeoville Branch (Crest Hill Branch has already been filled). These positions equal 25 hours per week and consist of daytime, evening, and weekend shifts. The selected candidates will be expected to provide a diverse range of library patron services relating to children, including assistance with library programs, collection development, staffing the Children's desk, instructing patrons in the use of electronic and print resources, and a variety of related tasks. Positions report directly to the relevant Children's Services Supervisor.
Minimum qualifications:
Must possess a Library Technical Assistant Certificate (LTA), or currently be attending an American Library Association accredited MLS graduate school, or possess a bachelor's degree and relevant experience. Children's services experience in a public library preferred. Applicants should have computer experience, including Internet and the use of online databases, and ability to work days, evenings and weekends. Knowledge of the Polaris Database is a plus. Applicants will also be required to travel between our facilities as needed. Salary range begins at $20.00 per hour and increases commensurate with performance.
