WA Library Assistant (After School) Job Description

Title:

Library Assistant

Supervisors:

Building Principal, Library Media Specialist

Objective:

To provide a welcoming environment in which students and teachers can take full advantage of library resources.

Hours:

Monday-Thursday, 2:20pm-4:20pm.

Requirements:
  • Familiarity with computers and online applications such as Google Workspace
  • Experience with Follett Destiny online catalog is a plus
  • Enjoy working with students and teachers
  • Like to work in a dynamic, multi-tasking environment and willing to learn new skills
General duties:
  • Oversee that students are using the space appropriately
  • Close up the library at the end of the day
  • Basic clean up: push in chairs, shut down copiers, lights, etc.
  • Help students and teachers with copy machines
  • Create and maintain library displays
  • Answer library phone, respond to general questions, redirect as necessary
Circulation desk management:

Check books in and out

Assists with the barcoding of books for circulation

Processes new library materials including the cataloging of materials

Manage collection:

Shelve books, DVDs, etc.

Assists in the annual inventory of library materials and helps prepare a list of missing and discarded materials

Position Type:

$18 to $18 Per Hour
