Job Description

Job Summary:
This position assists the school librarian with the daily operation of the library and media center between VHS and WRE. Responsibilities include processing and circulating library materials, maintaining library records, supporting students and staff in locating and using library resources, and helping maintain an organized, welcoming learning environment. Duties and Responsibilities Monitor student behavior and maintain a safe, orderly library environment. Supervise small groups or classes in the library. Assist students and staff with catalog searches, locating library materials, and using library resources. Operate the library management system to check library materials in and out and maintain accurate circulation records. Maintain confidentiality of student information and library records in accordance with district policy. Assist with the annual library inventory. Prepare overdue notices and other library correspondence. Process new books and other library materials, including labeling, covering, and preparing items for circulation. Repair damaged materials and prepare outdated or worn items for withdrawal from the collection. Maintain an organized, attractive library by shelving materials, arranging displays, creating bulletin boards, and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment. Assist with special library programs and events, including book fairs and reading promotions. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stoop, bend, and stretch. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to climb ladders or step stools to reach upper shelves.
