Provide support when needed with Interlibrary Loan, Art exhibits/shows held in the Library Rotunda gallery, and other Library programming. This is a non-supervisory, student worker position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide cordial, professional service to all library patrons. Ensure that department tasks are handled in a timely, efficient and accurate manner. Utilize complex library software applications to check out, check in, renew circulating library materials, and update patrons' account status. Assist with training new Access Services hires. Provide support with shelving of library items and shelf reading, as needed. Assist patrons in person or by phone with Course Reserve requests, item hold requests, general circulation, and library policy. Provide daily support with incoming and outgoing Resource Sharing items using specialized software (ALMA, OCLC Worldshare, Tipasa, Rapid ILL). Process local and Summit holds. Provide timely support for courier or other Resource sharing mail services. Provide pertinent directional information, referring patrons to appropriate departments and library personnel as applicable. Handle troubleshooting, including reporting issues to Head of Library Access Services or through other appropriate channels (e.g. shift leaders, Library Director, Campus Public Safety) in a timely manner. Maintain confidentiality of patron records, both personal and library use information. Take direction from Public Services Specialist, Interlibrary Loan Specialist, librarians, and/or other library staff in the absence of the Head of Access Services. Provide occasional basic reference support at the Circulation Desk, as needed. Special tasks and other projects as assigned. Department Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities ndividuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the duties and responsibilities of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. The individual is expected to follow College work rules and policies. Must be highly reliable and punctual. Considerable computer and keyboarding ability; adept with software applications/databases, Internet usage. Ability to provide consistent and dependable customer service. Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, faculty, and team members from diverse backgrounds. Accepts supervision and direction of supervisors. Perform all duties with a high degree of accuracy, efficiency, and strong attention to detail, sometimes without direct supervision. Ability to work independently; follow complex instructions; adapt to frequent changes in processing procedures; able to share knowledge with fellow team members. Ability to remain flexible and do different tasks on a daily basis. Ability to develop strong working relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds and other aspects of human diversity. Familiarity with library services helpful. Ability to develop strong knowledge of the Library of Congress call number system. Ergonomic Requirements Regular office hours are established between 8 am
  • 6 pm Monday-Thursday, 8 am
  • 5 pm Friday, 10 am
  • 5 pm Sunday.
A flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends, may be necessary due to the nature of the responsibilities.
Minimum Requirements Minimum Requirements:
Awarded and accepted Federal Work-Study for the 2026-27 Academic Year. Meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress for Financial Aid. Eligibility for Federal Work-Study employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, as required by the hiring department. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in front-line, public-facing service, preferably in a library or help desk environment. Familiarity with library resources.
