MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid and appropriate certificate and endorsements for Washington State required with an Endorsement in Library Science.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective library media services and classroom management.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully employ effective teaching methods.
  • Demonstrated desire and ability to work and communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents from diverse cultural backgrounds.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/CHARACTERISTICS
  • Previous successful library supervisory experience and teaching experience preferred.
  • Understanding of library technology, literary genres, research and reference tools to support instruction.
  • Knowledge and/or background in books and literature with an ability to promote reading.
  • Ability to assist teachers in the location and choice of print and non-print materials that meet curriculum needs and promote student achievement.
  • Maintain an inviting physical environment that allows for intellectual growth.
  • Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively and plan with other staff members, exercising leadership when appropriate.
  • Desire and willingness to continue to learn and pursue professional development.
  • Manage and develop special activities to promote literacy within the school community such as Battle of the Books, Read Across America, and Book Fairs.
