Job Description
Duties/Responsibilities:
Support with circulation, shelving, weeding and processing of books Collaborate with librarians to assist with classes Respond to student and faculty needs, such as help with printing, readers advisory, etc Support the library team with long term library projects, including inventory, updating the library website, social media Create book displays and library promotion Perform other duties as assignedQualifications:
Enrolled in a Master's Degree, ALA-accredited Library and Information Studies or related. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered Strong communication and interpersonal skills with strong customer service orientation and commitment to inclusiveness of diverse ideas and perspectives, and comfortable working with a wide range of youth populations Evidence of self-motivation to address new challenges, ability to solve problems with minimal supervision and commitment to learn new knowledge and skills Knowledge of children's, middle grade and young adult literature Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, inclusive and welcoming work environment in both physical and digital spaces Ability to lift up to 25lbs Demonstrated ability to work with Google Workspace, as well as customized computer software and online computer systems Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously, while ensuring successful completion. Ability to follow written and verbal directions accurately Ability to quickly and accurately check in and shelve books in either numerical or alphabetical order, with a goal of about 200 books per shift Demonstrate an understanding of the Dewey Decimal System Ability to thoughtfully incorporate professional feedback into future tasks Commitment to Quaker values, social justice and anti-racism Pay range is $22-$26/hour, depending on experience.
