Job Description

Information Commons Assistant, New England Institute of Technology (East Greenwich, RI)
ACCOUNTABILITY
Reports to Department Supervisor.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs essential duties relevant to the daily operations of the Information Commons with a focus on Interlibrary Loan services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Manage all Interlibrary Loan requests primarily through OCLC's WorldShare.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to the NEIT community and front desk support.
  • Assist in maintaining the physical collection including checking items in/out, reshelving, and other projects.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications The Information Commons (IC) is not your prototypical "library space." We strive to consistently refine workflows in the pursuit of high customer satisfaction and efficiency. We embrace change and leverage technology wherever possible. The IC Assistant will work with one full-time library staff member (the director) and 5-6 student IC Assistants. The ideal candidate possesses the following traits:

  • Adapts quickly.
  • Prioritizes customer service - ensuring users are highly satisfied with services.
  • Understands and champions how "library spaces" are evolving.
  • Leverages technology in beneficial ways.
There is flexibility in scheduled hours as this is a part-time role with a maximum of 20 hours per week. Saturday and evening availability is preferred, but not required.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent. Experience with a variety of ILL platforms is preferred. Full/Part Time Part Time Education NA Salary $25.00 / hour Closing Date
