Bookmobile Services Assistant Sumter County is Presently Seeking A Bookmobile Services Assistant for the Library
Starting Salary:
$25,000 Position Summary The Bookmobile Services Assistant supports library outreach services by assisting with the operation, maintenance, and scheduling of the bookmobile. This role helps deliver library resources to the community, provides courier services between branches, and ensures the bookmobile remains clean, organized, and fully stocked. Examples of Work Performed Assist with bookmobile operations and community outreach services Operate bookmobile and cargo van to deliver library services throughout the community Inspect vehicles regularly and report maintenance needs to appropriate staff Maintain cleanliness, organization, and overall readiness of the bookmobile Provide courier services between library branch locations Assist with scheduling and tracking bookmobile usage and activities Maintain inventory and order bookmobile supplies as needed Organize and maintain bookmobile office files and records Support development and updates of departmental manuals and procedures Participate in professional development and training opportunities Perform other duties as assigned Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of library operations, procedures, and service techniques Ability to operate standard office equipment and computer software (word processing, spreadsheets, databases) Ability to learn and utilize specialized library systems and software Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively under pressure and in varying conditions Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull book carts exceeding 100 pounds Minimum Requirements High school diploma or GED Valid South Carolina driver's license with a satisfactory driving record Ability to work a flexible schedule, including daytime, evening, and weekend hours Working Conditions Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in a mobile environment Frequent travel throughout the community using the bookmobile or county vehicles Exposure to varying weather conditions Requires physical activity including lifting, bending, and pushing/pulling carts
