Non-Exempt Position Summary The Library Aide supports the daily operations and instruction of the school library by assisting students and staff, maintaining library materials, and supporting a welcoming and organized learning environment. This position reports to the Principal and receives guidance from Library Media Specialists, including the Lead Library Media Specialist. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Daily Operations Provide instruction in information literacy, research skills, digital citizenship, and responsible technology use. Assist students and staff with locating library materials and using library resources. Check materials in and out using the library management system. Recommend library media resources aligned with curriculum and student needs. Shelve, organize, and inventory library materials according to established procedures. Process new materials, including labeling, covering, and catalog support as directed. Maintain an orderly, safe, and welcoming library environment. Supervise students in the library to ensure appropriate behavior and use of resources. Assist with circulation reports, overdue notices, and basic recordkeeping. Support classroom teachers with library-related activities and scheduling as assigned. Maintain confidentiality of student records and information in compliance with FERPA and District policy. Other Duties Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED required. Experience working in a library or school setting preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Basic knowledge of library organization and procedures or willingness to learn. Ability to use computers, library software, and basic office equipment. Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills. Ability to work effectively with students and staff. Ability to maintain a calm, quiet, and supportive environment. 2 Physical & Environmental Requirements Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive motions. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
