Full Job Description Town of Signal Mountain Assistant Librarian Division/Department:

Library The Town of Signal Mountain is seeking an Assistant Librarian to provide advisory services, supervising library volunteers and coordinating adult library programming. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Perform circulation desk duties including checking in and out materials, collecting fines, entering data, entering reserves, and issuing library cards. Catalog new materials and prepare items for circulation. Assist in receiving and sorting donations to library. Assist patrons in locating materials and educate patrons on computer catalog use. Shelve materials and/or check shelves for improper shelving. Compile overdue lists and initiate contact with patrons. Assist Librarian with routing operations or special projects including ordering supplies, repairing damaged materials, etc. Help answer telephone. Process fines and other money received by the library and prepare deposits. Assist in training and supervising of staff and volunteers. Participate in job-related training via webinars and/or in-person. Assume role of Librarian when necessary and any other duties assigned. Obtain credentials for other duties, i.e., notary public, passport acceptance agent.

Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent At least 1 year of community library experience or equivalent Knowledge of computerized library program, cataloguing, and applicable computer software Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with the public and other employees and to work well with children The Town offers a comprehensive benefit package including:
