Job Description

Primary Purpose To assist in providing a smooth functioning library environment in which the students and staff can take full advantage of the available materials and resources. Qualifications Education/Certification High School Diploma or the equivalent Special Knowledge Skills Must have a pleasing personality and a desire to work with students Must have the ability to assume responsibility for some direct instruction of students Must be able to work with students to maintain an orderly atmosphere Must have a general knowledge of working with computers Major Responsibilities and Duties Processes new books and periodicals. Processes audio-visual materials and equipment. Assists in preparing purchase order requests and ordering materials for the library. Assists teachers and students in the selection and location of books and other materials. Assists the school librarian in supervising classes in the library. Prepares and distributes overdue book notices, collects fines for damages, and handles lost book titles and issues receipts. Checks in books, magazines, and catalogues. Assists in maintaining inventory of supplies. Assists in bar-coding materials, typing labels, shelving books and videos. Assists teachers in the collection of materials as requested. Repairs damaged books. Relieves the school librarian of some non-teaching duties. Maintains a sincere, friendly attitude towards district and campus staff and faculty, parents, and students to insure communication. Performs other duties as assigned. Working Conditions Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors Regular attendance is essential. Maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate lifting and reaching required. Frequent standing, walking, and kneeling.
