Library Assistant The AARP Foundation Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is a Title V, U.S. Department of Labor funded "Paid" work training program for eligible job-seekers age 55 and older with low income that are 'most-in-need'. Working an average of 18•20 hours a week, participants are paid the Texas minimum wage and are compensated by SCSEP directly. This on-the-job training experience can be a bridge to find employment opportunities outside the program as it helps our participants gain skills and work experience while they earn a temporary income. To participate, you must be: 55 or older Currently Unemployed, Financially qualified to meet Federal Poverty Income Limit Guidelines and Show Proof of Income, Living in a Texas county served, and Willing and Committed to Seeking Permanent Part-Time or Full-Time Employment. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for low-income financially eligible seniors. We assign our participants to temporary training in a variety of community service activities at nonprofit and public facilities while we also assist them in their search for a job. The participant's success adds to the economic vitality of the community they work in by providing a source for dedicated, trained, mature workers. The partnerships we form with nonprofit and public Host Agencies provide a short-term training environment for each of our participants.
