Part-Time (15 Hours per week)
Hourly Wage:
$18.00 per hour
Anticipated Start Date:
August 3, 2026
Schedule:
Approximately 15 hours per week. Must be available to work evenings and Saturdays. Position Overview Johnson City Library is seeking a friendly and dependable Library Assistant who enjoys helping people and providing excellent customer service. This position focuses on supporting daily library operations and creating a welcoming experience for every patron who walks through our doors. About The Library At Johnson City Library, we're about more than books— we're a social hub and learning center for our community. Our small, rural library is always evolving to meet the needs of our patrons, offering entertaining and enriching programs, technology access, and educational resources for all ages. We strive to make the library a welcoming space where everyone can learn, create, and connect. Essential Functions
  • Provides excellent customer service at the front desk including check-ins/checkouts, answering reference questions, and basic technology support.
  • Assists patrons with library resources, services, and technology.
  • Supports collection maintenance and other daily library operations.
  • Participates in short-term and long-term planning for programs, services, grants, and special projects.
  • Shares responsibility for building supervision, upkeep, and opening/closing procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working or volunteering in a library setting.
  • Experience in customer service.
  • Comfortable using various technologies, including Mac, Windows, and smartphones.
  • Creative, energetic, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • All library employees are subject to a background check.
Pay:
$18.00 per hour
