Job Description

Summary Performs paraprofessional level duties to assist Materials Management Services department and maintain library collection materials.. Essential Functions Provides excellent customer service to all patrons and coworkers at all times; Assist patrons in the use of library facilities, technology, and materials; Develop and implement special library programs; Assist patrons with the use of the computerized library catalog; Assist in processing books which are being checked in or out; Keep up with inventory and order supplies when needed; Explain and enforce library policies and procedures to library users and staff; Provide training to new employees; Take part in library outreach endeavors; Evening and weekend hours required; Perform related duties as directed. Qualifications Completion of a bachelor's degree in a related field with an additional one to three years of experience working in library services, teaching or education field, or other experience providing programs to children or adults; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following:
Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge of:
Library ILS (SirsiDynix preferred) Library organization, policies, and procedures; Program development and implementation; Customer service skills; A variety of library materials, resources, and technology.
Ability to:
Promote library services and public relations; Communicate effectively with others. Physical Requirements Occasionally lift and carry up to 10 pounds Occasionally walk and stand during a shift Occasionally flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially flex at the knees Place arms above, at or below shoulder height
