Job Description
Under general supervision, the Part-Time Library Aide performs a variety of clerical and support tasks in the library, including extensive shelving and organization of materials. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality library services, support a welcoming environment for all patrons, and consistently demonstrate a positive, team-oriented attitude. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:- Support and promote the vision, core values, and communication agreements of the Victoria Public Library.
- Deliver excellent customer service in a courteous and professional manner, fostering a positive image of the library.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve department goals.
- Demonstrate a patron-centered approach and maintain a professional working relationship with staff, volunteers, and the public.
- Assist with programs, services, and patron experiences as assigned.
- Help monitor library facilities to ensure an appropriate, user-friendly environment.
- Check in materials, prepare alphabetized carts, perform inventory searches, and shelve on shift library materials as needed.
- Follow all City and department safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Perform other related duties as assigned Work is performed primarily in a standard office and library environment.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE GUIDELINES
- Must be at least 17 years of age
- Must have a valid State Driver's License
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Familiarity with general office policies, procedures, and practices.
- Understanding of customer services principles, etiquette, and best practices.
- Awareness of general library operations and services.
- Basic proficiency with computers and office equipment.
- Strong communication skills, flexibility, and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to stay organized, work effectively as part of a team, and demonstrate integrity, accountability, and quality in all tasks.
