Job Description

Become an essential part of Utah Valley University's library experience by joining the Circulation Services team. In this role, you'll be the first point of contact for patrons, helping them access materials, navigate library resources, and find the support they need to succeed academically. You'll gain practical experience in customer service, problem-solving, and library operations as you check materials in and out, assist with account needs, and handle minor fines and fees with professionalism and care. This role also plays a key part in maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment across the library's physical spaces—work that directly enhances the study experience for the entire campus community. You'll receive regular training that builds your confidence and competency in circulation procedures, service interactions, and library technologies. With a consistent schedule of Monday
  • Friday from 12pm
  • 4pm OR 1pm
  • 5pm , this position offers stability while accommodating student life and academic demands.
Team members may also assist with opening or closing routines, gaining a deeper understanding of library workflows. Assists library patrons at the circulation desks or by phone by checking material in and out, assess information needs, provide directions and other general information, referring to specialists, and performing minor fee transactions. Performs maintenance tasks as assigned, such as reshelving material, inventory, cleaning, resetting and organizing physical collections and spaces, participating in regular training and assisting in training others. Assist in opening/closing procedures of the library, according to set schedule. Performs other duties as assigned. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications:
One year of experience in related duties. Demonstrated proficiency in speaking Spanish. Knowledge Knowledge of frontline customer service experience. Knowledge of computer operation with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Teams, Google docs, and internet browsers. Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Abilities Ability to work fixed schedule. Ability to work well with others and independently. Ability to pay attention to detail, follow rules and adhere to expectations. Ability to be approachable.
