Non-exempt Description:
Under the direction of the Children's Librarian or Library Director, this position provides educational entertainment to small or large groups of infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and parents. This position is in the Children's Division of the Springville Library.Duties:
Performs in front of large groups of people using a head microphone. Entertains at story times by singing songs, reading or telling short stories, performing dramatic presentations, wearing costumes, using puppets, or other ad lib performances. Performs at outreach events, which may include elementary school assemblies and programs outside the library. Learns and implements emergent literacy concepts to use in story time performances. Talks to parents following story times to answer questions and discuss preschool and emergent literacy skills. All other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to read, write, and communicate at a high school level. Previous performance experience and/or experience working with younger children (ages 0-5) is desirable. Must be able to work mornings and occasional evenings or weekends as needed.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Musical or theatrical experience. Knowledge of children's developmental stages. Ability to interact with the public, infants, and young children. Some knowledge of library procedures and practices. Ability to project a positive and pleasant attitude to the public. Knowledge of early literacy skills is a plus; must be able to plan age-appropriate story times.Physical Demands:
Performs duties that require moderate physical effort, such as lifting, bending, and stooping. Requires standing and frequent moving including dancing. Occasionally may lift materials up to 40 pounds.Similar remote jobs
