About 5280
Recovery High School:
5280 is Colorado's only recovery high school—serving youth in recovery from addiction. 5280 is a public charter school authorized by Denver Public Schools that provides a high-quality learning environment within a substance-free community. It is a small school of roughly 100 students with an extremely strong and collaborative community of staff and students. Overview:
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned, Project Based / Problem Based lessons in Math 1, Math 3, and an elective or humanities course, adapting teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students with trauma histories and executive functioning challenges. Maintain a trauma-informed classroom environment that promotes emotional regulation, positive behavior, and relationship-building, aligning with the school's recovery-focused philosophy. Monitor and assess student progress regularly, providing feedback and adjusting instruction to support continuous growth. Foster a classroom culture that values respect, empathy, and resilience, reflecting the school's commitment to a supportive and inclusive community. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives to uphold the school's mission and contribute to a positive school climate. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, behavior, and academic achievement in accordance with school policies. Collaborate closely with math team and staff to ensure student social emotional well-being and academic success. This is a temporary long-term sub position. The teacher would start the year with the current math teacher and transition to teaching independently for first semester. This assignment end December 2026.
