Secondary Math Teacher Kamaile Academy HSTA 10-month •Hiring for
SY 2026-27
About the Role Kamaile Academy PCS is seeking an experienced and dedicated Secondary Math Teacher to teach a variety of math courses for students in grades 6-12. This position emphasizes high-quality instruction, student engagement, and academic growth . The teacher will collaborate closely with administrators, instructional coaches, coordinators, and the middle school team while participating in school-wide programs, field studies, and professional development opportunities. Key Responsibilities Planning for Student Success Develop lessons and activities tailored to student needs using data to assess skills, knowledge, and growth. Align instruction with best practices, clear objectives, and appropriate assessments. Plan for reteaching and differentiated instruction as needed. Building Relationships Foster positive relationships with students through empathy, active listening, and rapport. Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to meet student academic and social-emotional needs. Instruction and Assessment Deliver engaging, standards-aligned math instruction across middle and high school levels. Provide timely feedback and meaningful grading. Communicate student progress clearly with families and colleagues. Active Participation and School Engagement Attend and contribute to faculty, grade-level, and department meetings. Support planning, budgeting, implementation, and evaluation of school programs. Participate in community-building events and school activities. Monitoring Student Well-Being Identify and respond to academic, behavioral, or emotional concerns. Report issues promptly to administrators or designated staff. Implement accommodations for students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or 504 plans . Professional Growth Maintain an annual professional growth plan and engage in reflective practice. Participate in ongoing professional development to improve instructional effectiveness. Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (Applied Math, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science). Student teaching, internship, or prior teaching experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively within a team. Classroom management and student engagement skills. Experience with assessment, instruction, and evaluation strategies. Knowledge of adolescent development and effective instructional practices. Familiarity with culturally responsive teaching and supporting diverse learners. Proficiency in using technology for teaching and learning. Commitment to professional growth, reflection, and reliable attendance. Preferred Qualifications Hawaii State Teacher License (preferred but not required). Completion of an accredited teacher certification program. Highly Qualified (HQ) designation, including relevant Praxis exams. At least three years teaching middle and/or high school math courses.
