Job Description
A Faculty Mathematics Instructor in the Department of Mathematics dedicated to high-quality instruction and the monitoring of theCollege's dual credit partnerships. The successful candidate will manage a professional workload composed of classes from Mathematics inModern Society to Calculus and Dual Credit Liaison duties. The instructor will also support the department's corequisite math offerings,which give students additional support in math classes. The instructor will support the College's program of General Education throughteaching classes in the Mathematical Way of Knowing and by participating in General Education program assessment.
Duties andResponsibilities:
Teach a minimum semester credit load (15-16 hours) of courses (or equivalent) in accordance withthe descriptions published in the CSI catalog. Devote a full-time work week to the institution, maintain appropriate office hoursas determined by college policy, and bring to the attention of the immediate supervisor any conditions which might affect employment. Devise and utilize outcomes assessment measures. Participate fully in all departmental, program-level, and college-levelassessment activities. Meet all scheduled classes promptly with any deviation being filed promptly and accurately through theappropriate channels. Provide current copies of course syllabi to chairperson each semester. Monitor student placementin courses and student progress; maintain accurate records. Interact with and advise students. Participate in facultydevelopment to improve professional effectiveness including the August Learning Lab as well as a first year on-boarding process. Participate in instructional evaluation processes. Attend department meetings and committee meetings as appropriate. Recommend textbook adoptions in collaboration with other faculty in the department. Promote and help with learning assistanceservices. Other duties as assigned.Workload and Flexibility:
Faculty load isdetermined by departmental and institutional needs. This position requires a flexible professional balance between traditional campus-basedteaching and dual credit coordination. Specific course assignments and liaison responsibilities are subject to change on asemester-by-semester basis.Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
Master's degree from anaccredited institution in the subject area, or a closely related field. Applicants who claim equivalent qualifications shallprovide conclusive evidence that they possess qualifications that are at least equivalent to those required by the minimum qualifications ofthe area for which they are applying. It is the responsibility of the applicant to supply all evidence and documentation for the claim ofequivalency at the time of application.Desired Skills and Abilities:
Communicate effectivelyin oral and written English. Demonstrated ability to teach across various skill levels and a commitment to mentoring educators ina dual credit environment. Demonstrate sensitivity to, and understanding of, the varied backgrounds of community collegestudents. Develop and maintain courteous, professional, and effective working relationships with members of the department,administration, staff and students.Additional Information:
