Plan for class activities, including preparing units and daily lesson plans, identifying materials to implement class activities, preparing class projects, giving students feedback on completed work to insure mastery of presented material, and grading of tests and assignments in a timely manner.
Confer with other teachers concerning cross-curricular opportunities.
Communicate with parents on a regular basis about the schedule, assignments, events andindividual student needs.
Meet with parents during scheduled conferences during the school year.
Maintain grades and curriculum assessments online.
Attend faculty meetings and curriculum meetings as needed.
Provide academic subject instruction in science, ensuring that curriculum maps and schedules are followed.

TEACHERDefinition:
The middle school teacher is responsible for the instruction, curriculum development and extended classroom activities associated with assigned grade levels.Essential Functions:

Education and Experience:
Masters Degree preferred; Bachelors Degree in the area of study is required with a minimum of five years teaching experience, preferably in a middle school setting; or any combination of education and work experience.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Valid Massachusetts Teaching License with certification as a teacher at the grade 5-8 level.Skills and Ability:
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to the instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on district objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to demonstrate leadership, initiative, collaboration and independent thinking. Must possess strong people skills and emotional intelligence in dealing with students, peers and parents. Ability to work effectively with all staff at all levels of the school district; skills in oral and written communication is required.Work Environment:
